APPLICATION:
Deliverance comes before Law
Obedience follows God’s love
God’s rules lead to flourishing
For Israel Obedience meant Blessing and Disobedience meant Curses but for us Christ has born the curse to give us the blessing of God.
God has not only given us His rules he has given us His Spirit to indwell and empower us.

Community Group Questions:
1. In Matthew 5:17, Jesus says “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets, I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” What does it mean that Christ satisfied the Law and the Prophets? How does that affect how we view the Ten Commandments?
2. How is the giving of the Law an example of God’s grace for His people?
3. Read through the “preamble” to the 10 commandments in Exodus 19. What do you see of God’s character and His love for His people in this section? Where do your beliefs match what you see in this text and where do you need to change how you think about God?
4. Why is it significant that God’s deliverance of His people from Egypt came before the giving of the Law?
5. Do you have a regular sabbath? What does that look like?
6. If God has ordained ways that we are to worship him, what does it look like to worship Him rightly or wrongly in today’s culture?
7. As believers who are saved by faith in Christ and not by works, why should we obey God’s commandments?
